Ingredients:
- 4x 150 g sirloin steak
- 1 onion, chopped
- 50 ml tomato sauce
- 25 ml chutney
- 5 ml Dijon / German mustard
- salt
- black pepper, freshly ground
- 1 – 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 20 ml Worcestershire sauce
- 5 ml brown sugar
- 75 ml red wine
Preparation:
- Beat steaks to flatten and brown on both sides in a little oil or butter and oil combined. Transfer, in a single layer, to a shallow baking dish.
- Add a little more oil to pan, and sauté the onions until starting to soften. Add the garlic and sauté a few minutes longer.
- Mix together the remaining ingredients, pour into the pan, and bring just to the boil.
- Pour over the steaks, and bake, at 160° C for 45 to 60 minutes, until tender, and the gravy has reduced.
